The project consists of converting two “big box” retail stores to a 50,000 s.f. Police Headquarters and a 12,000 s.f. library. The Police Headquarters includes a holding facility and the City’s Communications Center. A secure yard for official vehicles, fuel station and vehicle maintenance is located between the two buildings. An innovative design feature by LMA is a central sky lighted atrium to compensate for scarcity of windows in the tilt-up concrete exterior walls.

Leach Mounce was selected by the City to do project management and construction management services and provide technical and design input for a design/build team to convert the buildings to police and library use. The buildings were structurally upgraded to essential services standards and completely renovated with all new electrical and mechanical systems. Leach Mounce did the detailed design, construction documents and engineering for the 911 center and performed full time on site construction management services for complete construction.
