Leach Mounce Architects did the City’s Police Department needs assessment in 2003, then completed a new design of the civic center master plan in 2004. LMA has provided complete design services for the Library and Post Office and the Police Facility is to be LEED Silver certified. The new design character for the civic center is conceived as a civic village within the increasingly urban context of the City. LMA's master plan will provide an attractive pedestrian promenade linking the new Police, Library and Post Office buildings with the existing City Hall and it's future extensions. The Library was designed to convert to other city uses if and when funding is acquired to construct a larger Library in the future. The Library and Post Office were completed in 2008 at a cost of $5,800,000. The Police Facility total construction cost is $22,000,000.
