The new campus parking and police facility
is a two story 27,700 sf building sited on the corner of Darby
Avenue and Prairie Street. It houses the campus parking and
transportation department and a portion of the campus police
on the first floor and the remainder of the police department
on the second floor. It is sited adjacent to the new parking
structure also designed by LMA and across the street from University
Hall.
Public lobbies are on the first and second floors. Access
to the rest of the building is for authorized personnel only
and requires a card key access. The first floor lobby has public
counters for Parking/Transportation and the Police facility.
The police fitness and locker rooms along with the communications
room, evidence storage, briefing room, break room and booking/holding
areas are on the first floor. On the second floor the Chief’s
office, administration and multiuse EOC/training room, are
off the public lobby. Records, Investigations, Crime Prevention
and CSO’s are also on the second level. The police library
is adjacent to the interior stairs at the mezzanine with a
large skylight overhead serving both floors near the staff
entrance. Additional skylights at the second floor hall provide
natural daylighting.
