Designed as a prototype for the Navy, this facility provides a mixture of housing types for a variety of levels of security risk. The plan is configured to accommodate both men and women in disciplinary, presentenced and sentenced status.
The various security monitoring, lighting, ventilation, and communication systems, integrated into the building are controlled and monitored at two satellite and one central control graphics console. These consoles indicate system status and allow system control by pressing lighted membrane switches located in a plan view drawing on the console surface. The facility also contains a number of support spaces, including: kitchen and dining facilities, lavatory facilities, medical office, property storage, booking and holding, visiting areas and administrative offices.
