Leach Mounce completed a needs assessment for the Hartford Public Safety Facilities in 2004 which included eight development options that could be constructed depending on funding availability with scopes ranging from 118,000 sf to 185,000 sf.

The elements of the program are

  • Narcotics/Vice 7,421
  • Police Academy 22,239
  • Indoor Shooting Range 4,691
  • Credit Union 1,685
  • Coffee Shop 1,757
  • Total 184,915 sf

A redevelopment site close to downtown is under consideration for the police headquarters and fire administration. Construction would include renovation of an old historical school building.
