As a condition of the Development Plan for Chevron USA, Inc., Gaviota Oil and Gas Processing Plant, Chevron was required to construct and equip a permanent fire station at Gaviota to provide rapid response to fire emergencies at Chevron’s plant. The 5,500 s.f. facility is located in an environmental sensitive area and was designed to minimize its impact on the surrounding undeveloped hills and coastal area. The facility includes gas detection system, a special exhaust ventilation system and daylighting through skylights. It was designed to accommodate both men and women crew members. Site development includes waterwall and treatment plant, fuel islands, microwave communications and environmentally sensitive grading.
